The Talako Indian Dancers

The Talakos perform for a variety of events such as the Pine Castle Pioneer Days, Cracker Christmas Festival at Fort Christmas, Lake Wales Pioneer Days, and the Orlando Folk Festival at Mennello Museum, as well as many individual events sponsored by clubs, schools, libraries, and churches.

The Talakos accept as many invitations to perform as they can. As an independent youth organization, an effort is made to cover all expenses involved in a performance. Sponsoring organizations usually make a cash donation and (at festivals) allow the Talakos free space to set up our craft tent and sell Indian-themed items.

A typical program includes ten dances and may conclude with a Round Dance with audience participation. Our shows are always colorful, entertaining, and educational. Dancers are always in full regalia. A narrative is given which explains each dance.
